Terrace Project in Taylor County 7-2-2026

A Taylor County farmer is improving the quality and productivity of his farm and protecting water quality through a series of terraces that are reducing erosion and managing runoff. He worked with local conservation staff to apply for IDALS cost share and a Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Linked Watershed Protection Program (LWPP) low-interest loan to install more than 11,000 feet of terraces benefiting 40 acres of cropland, reducing erosion, and saving over 50 tons of soil loss each year. Located within the Brushy Creek Watershed, the project helps protect downstream water quality in the Middle Fork One Hundred and Two River Watershed. The project the largest SRF terrace project in Taylor County and in Iowa — shows what is possible through strong partnerships. Thanks to all the partners involved!
