Description
Shadle Pond and the surrounding park are local recreational areas visited by both rural and urban residents in Pleasantville. The pond is used primarily for stormwater management and recreational fishing and is a major centerpiece for the City. In the past few years, the City has received numerous large storm events that have resulted in the pond overtopping the roadway, along with massive algae blooms that have caused large fish die offs. This project will serve the City and the local residents by adding sediment forebays and an updated outlet structure to adequately hold and treat a variety of storm events, set the City up for easier future pond maintenance, and provide a healthy and more accessible fishing pond for the residents.  This project complements previously installed stormwater improvement projects upstream of the pond to create a cleaner overall watershed.
