Description
Webster City plans to divert their storm water runoff from a 70 acre urban area to a wetland instead of directly into the Boone River. The wetland will help by slowing and filtering stormwater generated from the urban streets and parking areas.

Riverside Park was formerly a campground and is now an open green space. There are currently four stormwater mains below the park and discharge directly into Boone River. They provide surface drainage for approximately 70+ acres of commercial and residential properties. The goal is to divert 2-3 mains into a stormwater wetland.

By creating this wetland, we are hoping to reduce suspended solids, hydrocarbons, and other pollutants/trash associated with urban runoff. Another anticipated benefit is vegetation diversity and wildlife habitat in the city.
