Total project
$480,000

Description
The project is located in the Beaver Creek watershed, in the Little Beaver Creek Tributary South branch, just south of SE 6th Street. The project site is directly south of the existing City of Grimes Community Complex and SE Main Street. The park is a newly purchased property, a portion of which has been designated for water quality benefit by the city. The implementation of a wetland to the Main Street Park will provide the city an opportunity to reduce pollutant discharged from the upstream approximately 374-acre drainage area of primarily agricultural lands. Implementation of a wetland area at this location provides numerous beneficial features for the public, wildlife, and the ecosystem. These functions include protecting and improving water quality, providing wildlife habitats, storing floodwaters, and maintaining surface water flow during dry periods.
