Grant award
$100,000

Total project
$220,000

Description
This project is the second phase in the development of the Edible Arboretum and is part of a larger “Garden Corridor” area of Charles City, adding to several other water quality improvement practices in the city. On the site of the new edible arboretum, the city will demonstrate infiltration-based stormwater quality management practices that can be replicated in residential and commercial properties in the city.

The proposed practices include a bioretention cell, interior walking paths with grassed pavers, gravel pavers, and permeable pavers, rain gardens, and native plants.  Additionally, soil quality restoration will be done on the site and native turf will be planted to achieve further infiltration capabilities.
