Description
To reduce pollutants in Smith Lake, located in Smith Lake Park in Kossuth County, the Kossuth County Conservation Board has installed a bioretention cell adjacent to the parking lot at the Water’s Edge Nature Center. The bioretention cell will filter 1.25 acres of parking lot runoff before it enters the 54 acre lake. With close proximity to the nature center, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the importance of stormwater management, water quality, and native plants.

The project was completed in October 2024.
