Summary
The City of Clinton is building a stormwater wetland to capture runoff from a 97.2-acre drainage area which includes industrial activities and a high percentage of impervious surfaces. The wetland will help control urban runoff and reduce the movement of sediment in the watershed.

Description
The focus of this project is to install a stormwater wetland to improve water quality in Mill Creek watershed. The city is converting six acres of frequently flooded property to a stormwater wetland.

Clinton is prioritizing stormwater management because of combined stormwater overflows and increased runoff volumes in this area.  Urbanization in the watershed has led to persistent problems with erosion, stormwater runoff, and the delivery of urban pollutants.  The watershed consists of residential development in the upper parts of the watershed and commercial and industrial areas in the lower portions of the watershed. This project will help to revitalize the neighborhood and provide outdoor recreation opportunities.  It will also serve as an educational tool for local high school and community college students.   Sponsored Project dollars are a critical component of this project.
